The short version
- A 30-second GTA 6 TV spot cuts Jason and Lucia's shower scenes from the launch trailer.
- Both TV edits run a little longer on an airplane sequence and a car moment.
- The Xbox logo is gone from the ads, though the game still launches November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Grand Theft Auto VI's TV commercials aren't quite the same as its launch trailer. Fan accounts have spotted that the new spots cut some scenes and extend others, by just a hair.
The biggest change is in the 30-second version, which drops the steamy shower scenes with Jason and Lucia. In exchange, it holds a bit longer on an airplane sequence and on a shot of the pair standing next to their car.
That car moment gets a fun little extension. Jason playfully nudges Lucia, and in the TV cut she nearly topples to the ground.
A 90-second version keeps the shower scenes and also includes those slightly longer sequences, so it's the most complete edit of the bunch.
The Xbox logo was also removed from the ads. GameSpot suggests that's presumably due to Rockstar's reported promotional deal with Sony, though that's the outlet's read rather than anything Rockstar has said.
Don't let the logo fool you. GTA 6 launches November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Wire is promoting the official launch trailer as a way to explore Leonida before the game arrives.
The TV spots are part of a bigger marketing push from Rockstar that also includes real-life Burger Shot and Cluckin' Bell restaurants selling GTA-branded food.
What we don’t know yet
- Rockstar hasn't explained why the TV spots were edited differently from the launch trailer.
- The terms of Rockstar's reported promotional deal with Sony haven't been confirmed.
